Timber Hitch

A form of noose which is ideal for towing, dragging or lifting anything which is long and relatively thin. Double the working end back on itself, around the standing part of the line, and wrap it around itself several times. The standing part of the line is beneficially half-hitched around the object further down from the knot and from there can be slipped over a towing stud.

I used it to good effect when gathering logs left on the offside bank on the BCN by BW in the winter of 2009/10 in cases where some of the logs were too heavy for me to lift onto the roof.
